Photos: Summer in Valais, Switzerland

by Charlie Leocha on July 29, 2010

One of my skisnowboard.com researchers is traveling through Western Switzerland visiting hotels and restaurants that are covered in the guidebook and on the Web. He is also adding summer activities for a future website.

The photos that he has sent back to me are too good to keep to myself. Here is the first grouping. Enjoy.

This first photo is from an Alphorn convention that was taking place in Nendaz, a valley south of Sion. This valley has lifts that link to the Verbier ski and snowboard area.

Here is one of the tunnels at the upper end of the long Valais Valley. He is traveling with a Swiss Railpass, courtesy of Rail Europe.

The Ice Grotto in Zermatt — highest in Europe.
