Great tip about the cruise industry being posed to unleash some great deals in the early 2010. If airfares stay low, it'll be even more viable to embark from exotic ports of call in the Mediterranean and Caribbean, even if you live far away from those cities.

But, then again, with airfares and hotels so cheap it's tempting to bypass cruises altogether and just stay in hotels. The cruise lines need to compete with this fact and price accordingly.

I also feel the same way, it's might be possible as recession will be over by next year hopefully but who know what future has hold for us?

Chris, I agree that there will be terrific values, but I don't think they'll be quite as generous as this year. Some cruise lines are already seeing their best cabins and suites booked, and if we see any pick up in the meetings sector (which appears likely), that may allow hotels to raise rates from current levels (granted, ot everywhere -- as you note, Vegas will remain a great place for bargains). If airlines don't see profitable demand return, they may ground more planes, which will put the squeeze on capacity. It's possible that some airlines may even realize that flying full and losing money makes no sense, so they may raise ares, figuring profitable demand is not elastic, and opt for empty seats.

You're right about social media, especially Twitter, as a resource for special deals. Loyalty programs are another great way to find unadvertised specials, especially for airlines since they don't have to make these available to travel agencies. And there are new deal-focused Web sites like Jetsetter.com which offer outstanding bargains for luxury hotels.
