I would not be booking a November airfare with them unless I also took out insurance and had a contingency plan for travel. AA&#039;s debt burden is so high as to make financial collapse a real possibility. AA&#039;s current debt/equity ratio is 6.56 (msn money), meaning it has $6.56 in debt for every $1.00 in shareholder funds - this makes for a massive interest bill - payable in cash. For comparison Delta&#039;s current debt/equity ratio is 2.45, whilst Southwest&#039;s is 0.30 (easy to see why they have had 35 straight years of profitability).</description>
