Wow. What a misconception about the survivability of airplane crashes.  ALOT are survivable, but you must get out before smoke, asphysiation, heat kill you.  And, that can begin as short as 90 seconds after final impact.

Earlier this month the New York Times reported that new planes will need to become equipped with air bags. But what will this cost you?

Smoke hoods
Oxygen bottles
Megaphones
First Aid kits
Medical Emerg Kits
Wheelchairs
Fire Extinguishers
Barrier masks for CPR/Mouth to Mouth
Radio Beacon Transmitters
Survival kits
AED
Crash Axe
Lifevests


etc...etc....etc.  Many of these items have expiration dates.  They need to be replaced when they expire.  Airbags?  another ADDED expense!</description>
