Voyij.com offers comprehensive deals and user-friendly innovation

It seems that you have many online travel sites like Travelocity, Expedia, and Orbitz offering you something different. Now a new site “is hoping to bring fresh and creative deals, offers and sales for the flexible traveler.” Voyij.com was started by the same crew who brought us Sidestep.

Users can explore and discover travel sales they never knew existed, independent of origin, destination, or dates. Voyij was developed to bring the “best of the best travel bargains” to users in the easiest, most time-efficient way.

British Airways to fly Las Vegas-London direct

Despite the slowdown in the economy, British Airways considers Las Vegas to be “a growth opportunity for the company.” Beginning in late October, the airline will start daily non-stops between McCarran and London Heathrow.

Las Vegas tourism officials welcomed the news. Visitors’ bureau vice president Cathy Tull says the flight is a result of a decade of work to bring British Airways to the airport.

British Airways says roundtrip fares will start at about $460, plus fees and taxes.

Recessionary travel trends: camping’s making a comeback

The recession is causing people to scale back their vacation plans, especially those that involve air travel, car, and hotels. The one area where it is growing is the camping industry. “Campgrounds are going gangbusters.”

As a nifty NPR story points out, tent camping is up by 10% this year, and RV camping is robust as well, reflecting a broad trend toward modest, inexpensive vacations close to home.

In any case, the numbers don’t lie. A spot in a nice campground – with access to electricity, hot showers, and toilet facilities – can be had for as little as $15, while a hotel in a popular destination starts at about $100 a night for a borderline flophouse.
