Vdara Hotel and Spa opens at CityCenter project on Las Vegas Strip

Thousands of construction workers, city representatives, employees, and MGM Mirage officials were there on Tuesday for the opening of Vdara Hotel and Spa, the first hotel to open at the new CityCenter.

The event also marked the opening of CityCenter, the largest urban and resort destination in the world.

In recognition of the deep significance of the job creation resulting from Vdara and CityCenter’s opening, company officials welcomed employees to be the first to officially walk through the hotel’s doors.

NTSB chairman admonishes FAA for moving ‘too slow’ on runway safety

US National Transportation and Safety Board chairperson Deborah Hersman criticized the FAA on Tuesday for moving too slowly on recommendations the Board made on runway safety.

“We really can do better than that,” she said while delivering the opening address to the FAA International Runway Safety Summit in Washington, where 500 delegates from 17 countries gathered to exchange information on runway safety. “We owe it to [passengers] to address safety recommendations in a timely and effective manner,” she added, explaining that she was engaging in “truth telling.”

El Al seeks code-shares with US carriers

El Al is looking to code-share with more US carriers in order to expand its global reach.

El Al, which launched a code-share agreement with American Airlines in September 2008, said it hopes to announce partnerships with other US carriers “very soon.”

“We’re working on developing another two or three special agreements and new relationships with domestic American carriers,” CEO Haim Romano told reporters at a New York press event.
