United Airlines recalling all furloughed pilots
United Airlines announced last Thursday that it is recalling all furloughed pilots.
However, The Wall Street Journal notes that United “isn’t calling back the pilots because it plans a growth spree.”
Instead, the airline says the recall is meant to fill positions that will come open as current pilots retire and because of new pilot rest rules that United expects will require it to increase its number of pilots.
Why states are lining up to oppose the American-US Airways merger
Michigan became the seventh state to oppose the merger between American Airlines and US Airways. The other states are Arizona, Florida, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. So why are they lining up?
In a word, jobs. And in a second word, routes.
All of the states are home to hubs for major airlines — not all of them for American and US Airways, but all of them will be affected in some fashion if the merger takes place.
Brooklyn artist rents out grungy trailers to tourists
Heading to Brooklyn, New York, and want to live like a starving artist for $80 a night? Head on over to Crown Heights and talk to Kellam Clark.
Vacationers can choose from a 1954 Shasta trailer with a twin bed, a 1968 four-bed Shasta or a four-person Avion trailer. There are also three rooms for rent in the warehouse.
The antique trailers lock only from the inside and are stocked with cans of tuna and brandy bottles filled with water.
Each additional guest costs an extra $25.
What surprises this blogger is that Clark listed it on airbnb.com and there were takers. While I couldn’t find the listing (it may have been taken down), it might still be there if you look hard enough.
