Turkish Airlines to introduce new class that ‘will exceed’ typical premium economy

Turkish Airlines announced that they will introduce a new class of service in between business and economy.

The class is unnamed but “will exceed the premium economy standards of most other carriers and will be close to the business class of some other carriers,” he said.

THY [Turkish] has firm orders for 12 777-300ERs and 10 passenger A330-300s, with its first five 777s scheduled to arrive this fall. They will be equipped with 46 premium economy seats made by Recaro. The fixed-shell seats will offer 45-in. pitch and have 19.3-in. width, while the recline will be 113.3 deg.

Hackers take over United Airlines’ Twitter account

Hackers took over United Airlines’ Twitter account on Friday, which was part of a broader security breach at the site.

Hackers are using hijacked accounts to distribute mildly pornographic tweets and direct messages to other Twitter users, said Dennis Howlett, an independent enterprise software analyst based in Spain.

Hackers sent one message via Chicago-based United that included an offer for “better sex” and a link to a Web site.

Frontier and Midwest names may be “unified” and changed

Midwest and Frontier Airlines’ names might be a thing of the past one year after Midwest’s silver anniversary and the purchase of both airlines by Republic..

Indianapolis-based Republic Airways Holdings Inc., which bought Midwest in July and Frontier Airlines in October, plans to announce this spring its “unified brand plan,” company spokesman Carlo Bertolini said Friday. He spoke after Republic Chairman Bryan Bedford said a new brand is coming soon, suggesting it might not use either the Midwest or Frontier name.

I heard that the new unified brand name for Republic’s two airlines is going to be “Midtier”. The press release will talk about how the name reflects the combined names of Midwest and Frontier, along with their philosophy of how they plan on treating customers.

Yes, this is an attempt at humor.
