
Poll: Nevadans split on high-speed train from Southern Calif. to Vegas
Recently Nevadans were asked whether they would prefer a high-speed maglev train or the DesertXpress between Las Vegas, Nev. and Southern California. The poll was conducted by the Mason-Dixon Polling & Research, Inc. for the Las Vegas Review Journal.
[O]f 500 registered voters throughout the state, 42 percent supported the maglev train, which would ferry passengers from Las Vegas to Anaheim, Calif. Opponents made up 49 percent of those polled and 9 percent were undecided.
When it comes to the DesertXpress proposal, 44 percent statewide supported the train that would travel between Las Vegas and Victorville, Calif., 47 percent opposed it and 9 percent were undecided.

New Olympic Air takes off
Olympic Air, formerly Olympic Airlines, has shown strong numbers when it started flying at the end of September.
[The airline] already is transporting 10,000 passengers daily and trying to “just do basic things, fly on time and smile to people,” CEO Antonis Simigdalas told ATWOnline.
The new company, created when the Greek government agreed to sell Olympic Airlines’ flight, maintenance and ground handling divisions to Marfin Investment Group, employs 5,500 workers and has “created a new culture in all aspects,” Simigdalas said.
Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards welcomes the Venetian and the Palazzo Las Vegas onboard
Southwest Airlines have added two new hotels to its list of partners.
Southwest Airlines announced today the addition of The Venetian and The Palazzo Resort-Hotel-Casino properties as new preferred partners of the carrier’s frequent flyer program, Rapid Rewards. Rapid Rewards Members now have the option to earn Rapid Rewards credit for each qualifying stay at both hotel properties. Additionally, Members who book their hotel stays on southwest.com by Nov. 5, 2009, can earn double credit for stays through Dec. 31, 2009.

What did they poll Nevadans for? It’s Angeleno lives that would be saved by giving them an alternative to the highway. Ask _them_!
