‘We began descending very sharply’: Passengers tell of moment BA jet turned back to Heathrow after both pilots ‘almost pass out’ at controls

A British Airways A321 had to go back to Heathrow and make an emergency landing shortly after takeoff when the two pilots almost passed out.

The captain and first officer had to put on oxygen masks as the aircraft, which had just taken off from Heathrow, was climbing at 20,000 feet.

Twenty minutes into the Glasgow-bound flight, passengers heard a ‘panicked’ call for a senior member of the cabin crew to come to the aid of the flight crew ‘immediately’.

Air France-KLM said to be unidentified buyer of 25 Boeing 787s

Air France-KLM Group is said to be the buyer of 25 Dreamliners.

Boeing spent most of 2011 with more cancellations than orders for the 787, which entered service in October after more than three years of delays. Because Air France-KLM didn’t sign the deal when it was announced Sept. 16, the planes hadn’t been counted in Boeing’s tally. Finishing the sale in the final days of the year pushed the Dreamliner’s 2011 total to 13 net orders.
