Finnair pilots strike ends, flights to resume

Finnair pilots agreed to a state mediator’s proposal that will end the two-day strike.

A spokesman said the firm expected to fly 60-70 flights on Wednesday, with full service due to resume Friday. Details of the mediator’s proposal were not immediately available.

Key countries sign aviation freedom accord

The European Union, the United States and six other countries agreed to an “agenda of freedom” for airlines. This could open a way for cross-country mergers and consolidations.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA), the carriers’ global body that has long sought liberalization for commercial aviation, said the non-binding agreement was signed at a meeting it hosted at Montebello, Canada.

“This is an historic achievement that will help set the foundation for a financially sustainable global aviation industry,” declared IATA Director General Giovanni Bisignani in a teleconference from Canada just before the signing.

Tokyo restaurants tops in Michelin

The Michelin Guide has rated 11 restaurants in Tokyo with three stars, which puts the city as the top dining city in the world.

According to Oyvind Naesheim, Nobu Hong Kong’s executive chef, “Tokyo is an unbelievable city for food,” continuing, “The passion and perfection at some top Tokyo restaurants show us why this city is so outstanding in fine dining.”
