
New generation aircraft face increased cyber threat
Your home computer may not be the only thing facing cyber threats. New generation airplanes like the 787 and the A350 also face that issue.
“What worries me is the challenge that I’m not too sure that we’ve got the right handle on the catastrophic end of what we could be facing,” says Steve Jackson, group head of security and facilitation at Qantas Airways, at the conference. He says that someone could potentially hack into an aircraft network over the internet from their home.
FAA sending furlough notices to most employees this week
FAA’s Michael Huerta said the agency is instituting a hiring freeze and will be starting employee furloughs in April.
Citing the US government’s budget sequestration that started last week, Huerta said FAA this week is sending furlough notices to most of its 47,000 employees. Most agency workers will be furloughed one day every two weeks starting next month, he said.
