Air Jamaica: Come back in a few days for your second bag

If you plan on going to Barbados from New York or to Grenada from New York using Air Jamaica, you may want to think twice about bringing two or more bags. Starting this past Monday, the airline announced that there will be no charge for the first bag, but it will charge $25 for the second bag. What’s the kicker? “[T]he second checked bag won’t be on [your] flight.”

All other bags will be transported within seven days and must be picked up at the airport, Air Jamaica said.

The airline said it implemented this policy because of weight restrictions on the aircraft.

The status of the bags can be tracked online to determine when they can be collected from the airport, Air Jamaica said.

Air New Zealand helps you find love

Last week we reported that easyJet is introducing in-flight weddings. Air New Zealand thinks that it might have something there. The carrier has announced that it will be offering the world’s first matchmaking flight.

Singles will fly from Los Angeles to Auckland in October after a pre-flight party. Participants can create online profiles in advance of the trip in the hopes of meeting someone along the way. The flight will feature “themed food, drink and games” which I assume means lots of booze and many rounds of Seven Minutes in the Aft Bathroom. Upon arriving in Auckland, there will be a singles-only party.

Star Tours 2 in the works at Disneyland
When Star Tours first debuted at Disneyland in 1987, it was a big hit. Lines would stretch to outside of the building. Lately the ride hasn’t been very popular. Rumors started in 2005 that the ride would get a facelift.

But now it’s official. The LAT Travel blog, passing on an interview from the newspaper’s geek blog, confirmed that Frank Oz – Yoda himself – has recorded material for a new Star Tours attraction.

The revamp will incorporate prequel characters (like Naboo citizens and Geonosians) along with many aliens from the original trilogy (Aqualish. Bith, Rodians, etc).
