Homeland Security color-coded advisory system to be scrapped?

Everyone is pretty familiar with the threat levels that were instituted after 9/11/2001. Now a committee is deciding whether they should keep it or at least modify it.

The nation has already learned that fear doesn’t work too well, so the best course of action is to simply be observant and keep our eyes open for anything out of the ordinary. We don’t need snazzy colors and verbal airport warnings to be reminded of that.

Alaska Air says bag fee Worth $70 million

By adding a checked bag fee to passengers, Alaska Air Group says that it will add $70 million or more to its revenue.

The parent of Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air also said in a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission that the fee, which it began charging on July 7, was expected to add about $30 million in revenue for its second half.

Harrah’s plans to create entertainment district

Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc. wants to create an entertainment district east of the strip.

Called “Project Link” by company officials, the plan calls for about 20 restaurants and bars to be built along a winding corridor between the company’s O’Sheas and Flamingo casinos.

The project is an effort to create the kind of eclectic, open entertainment district that can be found in other cities such as New Orleans and Memphis.
