First Chinese-made Airbus makes maiden flight

EADS said that the first Airbus built outside of Europe successfully made a four-hour maiden voyage in China earlier this week.

Airbus began assembling some A320 jets in Tianjin near Beijing in September from fuselage parts shipped from Europe, increasing its presence in the world’s fastest growing markets for large aircraft.

“This A320 assembled in China unquestionably demonstrated the same quality and performance as those assembled and delivered in Hamburg or Toulouse,” Fernando Alonso, senior vice president at Airbus, said in a statement.

New push on for eminent domain in Atlantic City

Despite casinos being hard hit by the economy in Atlantic City, a State Senator and casino executives are “calling for aggressive use of eminent domain.”

At an East Coast gambling conference Tuesday, State Sen. Jim Whelan, the former mayor, said eminent domain — in which private property owners are required to sell their real estate for a public purpose — is the best way for Atlantic City to weather the economic downturn.
