Alaska rail and cruise packages add value, adventure

Alaska rail and cruise packages are gaining in popularity and tour company Rocky Mountaineer is offering a multi-day rail package combined with an Alaskan cruise.

Called Canadian Rockies Highlights & Coastal Passage with Pre-Tour Cruise – 2013, the package includes three days onboard the Rocky Mountaineer, a seven-night Holland America Alaskan cruise, eight dinners, eight lunches, nine breakfasts and five nights of hotel accommodation.

Cell phones on planes? For texting, not gabbing

Author Bob Greene feels that we should allow cell phones on planes for texting, not talking.

If you’ve been on flights with Wi-Fi enabled, you may have noticed that the passengers using it seem to be contented, almost docile — the tension level seems to have been lowered.

The anger level of travelers who become incensed by the yammering in the next seat would rise to the level of a public safety concern.

Fire breaks out in parked Japan Airlines 787 Dreamliner at Logan Airport

Firefighters were called to a parked JAL 787 that just came in from Tokyo.

The FAA told WBZ-TV the Boeing 787 Dreamliner from Tokyo was at a gate at the international terminal when a cleaning crew discovered the smoke on the plane around 10:40 a.m.
