Airbus says travel to jump 4 percent in 2010; Boeing sees no rebound
Airbus and Boeing have differing views on when travel will rebound.
The European planemaker expects a decline of less than 4 percent this year, followed by, at worst, unchanged demand next year, according to a presentation by Laurent Rouaud, its market research head, at the Hong Kong air show today.
“2010 will be a year of economic recovery, but 2011 will be the year for air-travel recovery,” said Randy Tinseth, Boeing’s marketing chief. Airbus forecast an increase of 6 percent or more in 2011.
Air travel may have to be rationed in the future says government climate change advisers
With air travel expected to double by the middle of the century, the Committee on Climate Change (CCC) fears that it will cause greenhouse emissions to increase.
In a letter to the Secretaries of State for Climate Change and Transport, the committee calls for global aviation emissions to be capped at 2005 levels by 2050.
They said that this does not mean that the number of flights will be cut in the short term.
Vegas weddings abound as numbers align on 9-9-09
Chapels all across the country, including Las Vegas, expect brisk business as couples pick September 9, 2009 to tie the knot.
The New York City Clerk’s office said 200 couples had wed by midday at its refurbished marriage bureau — about four times the Wednesday average. Nine couples in Hollywood spent 99 cents each to get married at a 99 Cents Only store on Sunset Boulevard.

Isn’t the headline on the first article misleading? In the text, Airbus is predicting a decline.
As for the second on the Committee on Climate Change: With the average temperatures going down over the last 10 years and the amount of ice at the poles is the same this year as 1970, I see no reason to worry about “greenhouse gases.”
the committee on climate change is crazy; firstly there is no uniform consensus on global warning; gee the only good thing about this is a terrorist would have to askpermission to fly; gee why was there not a committee on climate change during the ice age/
