Air New Zealand 777 Becomes a Hobbit

In conjunction with the Hobbit films, Air New Zealand has repainted one of its Boieng 777s with a Hobbit theme.

It is the largest graphic ever applied to an aircraft and took 6 days and 400 man-hours to complete.

The jet will depart for London via Los Angeles, returning to New Zealand in time to play a starring role in the global premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in Wellington on Wednesday, Nov. 28.

Healthiest airport food options in the country

If you’re traveling for the holidays, you’ve got a good chance to grab healthy food at some airports around the country.

The [Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine] said that although some airports have lost points from year to year, the overall trend is toward offering passengers the nutritious meals they need to maintain a healthful diet and handle the stress associated with air travel.

If you happen to be lucky enough to be at one of the airports listed in the previous article, you may want to eat up, as some of the food served onboard may not be as good as they claim.

An investigation by ABC’s “20/20″ revealed that more than 1,500 health violations had been identified by FDA inspectors throughout the past four years, including things like dirty cooking areas, old or moldy products and employees not washing their hands. Oh, and roaches and mice.

Maybe the airlines need to hire Chef Robert Irvine of Restaurant Impossible to visit Gate Gourmet to get to the bottom of this.
