
Engine fails on Singapore A380, flight turns back
A Singapore Airlines A380 from Paris to Singapore had to turn back mid-flight because of an engine failure.
The double-decker A380 took off from Paris at 12:30 pm (10:30 GMT) with 444 passengers aboard and was headed for Singapore, but had to turn round after 2 hours 45 minutes because of the engine problem, airline director Jerry Seah said.
US airlines $10 fee to some holiday fares
Several US airlines have added a $10 surcharge to fares for travel during Thankskgiving and New Year’s according to FareCompare.
The service said Delta Air Lines and its Northwest unit and US Airways on Friday joined United in matching the move started by American Airlines earlier this week.
Task force says JAL break up an option
If a government task force had its way, JAL would be broken up into “good” and “bad” parts.
JAL, swamped by $15 billion of debt and headed for its second straight annual loss, asked on Thursday for a government bailout, but the new transport minister withheld his support on concerns the airline’s cost-cutting plans would not go far enough.
