VrooomVrooomVrooom! Save the environment with your rental car

Need an eco-friendly rental car at a reasonable rate? Check out a new site called VroomVroomVroom.

After making its mark in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Canada, VroomVroomVroom (VVV) is launching its product here. Headquartered in Las Vegas, the site promises to be fast, cheap, and hassle-free. The company doesn’t charge any cancellation fee and offers $10 if you find a lower rate elsewhere. Users can rent from Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty in more than 2,000 locations.

Once you choose a vehicle and company, VVV will show you the price including base, taxes and all fees such as recovery and drop-off fees. It does not, and cannot, show you any insurance or other extras that you choose to purchase at the time of rental. If you make your booking through VVV’s site, you will be entered to win a free rental.

The site also features travel guides and tourist tips which include travel maps, places to find parking spots, and gas prices.

VVV also has a special carbon offset program. For every rental booked through their site, the company will estimate the amount of carbon produced by each car rental based on type of car, length of rental period and data on average mileage driven. Partnering with CarbonNeutral, a carbon offset and climate consulting business, the company will spend money on “neutralizing that carbon with various green initiatives.”

I’ve visited the site and it is well-designed. It has a helpful Frequently Asked Questions section, a Contact Us section with phone support hours clearly posted, as well as the ability to modify your bookings.

One of the things it doesn’t allow you to do is enter your frequent renter number. I emailed them and hope to hear from them within the next 72 hours. This is one site I will definitely use to rent my next car.
