OK so the FAA says my child's car seat MUST go in a window seat so now just to comply with the law I have to pay an extra fee?

Let's see...

A father and mother and child will now have to sit separately in order to avoid a $40 fee for a R/T ticket...

I always avoided USAir before because of their poor service, et al, but this is beyond belief as even the poor service will still be there!

With the way the airlines are nickle-and-diming us to death, it might be cheaper to get a pilot's license and fly yourself.

Chris Elliott blogged on April 1 about new fees being announced for "seating" and "restroom use." Ha-ha, it was just a great April Fools story. Now, it just looks prescient by two weeks. In addition to the new charges suggested in Charlie's post, I am envisioning a charge for smiling service by flight attendants, a charge to not be seated next to screaming children, and a charge not to have your suit coat/briefcase/package squashed in the overhead bin. Is it any wonder that people are so darn crabby when they fly?
