US Airways will start charging an additional $5 for window and aisle seats near the front of the aircraft. The change will come into effect on May 7th.
Remember the days when no one wanted the middle seat. Soon, everyone will be happier sitting in the middle seat because they will be saving $10 round-trip on US Airways. It is coming to this? Will we soon be charged more to fly on a new airplane and less on old aircraft?
Unbundling has already allowed airlines to charge for blankets and pillows, food, exit row and front-of-the-plane seats. Now window and aisle seats will be sold at a premium. My next prediction will be that airlines will have one price for those who want frequent flyer points and another for those who do not.
