I had a set of “thumb cuffs” confiscated in Ottawa by Canadian Air Transport Security – I wasn’t even offered the option of putting them in my checked bags. I was really early for my flight and was able to take my house keys (attached) and stow them in my vehicle while I was on vacation.If anyone is unfamiliar with these they are very small replica handcuffs made only large enough to fit around most people’s thumbs (a one-inch diameter max). I was told they were “a restraint device” and thus not allowed. Ah… I’m supposed to be able to restain someone with these? Are you joking?
