As airlines cancel flights, or worse, go out of business, and fuel costs rise, travelers are turning to travel agents as they seek help. According to a report in the Modesto Bee, travel agents are better equipped to help troubled travelers. Travel agents with extensive experience may have an easier time finding bargains or unraveling a mess, the Bee reports. “There are a lot of people out there who don’t want to use the Internet,” Marla Guerrero, co-owner of The Tan Line & Cruise Center, said. “They want me to pick up the phone and answer questions.” Agents quoted in the article said that for something as simple as booking a flight, they can’t compete with the online sites. However, they can offer the personal touch and make suggestions based on experience that still have value for travelers.
