Most Americans will receive a tax rebate of up to $600 — and that kind of dough can fund a cruise, road trip or a weekend in Vegas, say travel experts. Here are some deals the Associated Press found:
- a Caribbean Princess three-night cruise from Fort Lauderdale to the Bahamas in May starts at $259 (for a no-frills room)
- Cheapflights.com has an air-hotel package from Phoenix to Cancun, with a three-night hotel stay at the four-star Barcelo Tucancun Beach Resort & Hotel Villas for $585 per person. The resort is all-inclusive. [Full disclosure: Cheapflights.com is a Tripso advertiser.]
If you want to try Las Vegas on $600 or less, you’ll have to stay out of the casinos and high-end restaurants, Bryan Allison, vice president of marketing for Vegas.com tells the AP. If you’re in the mood for a road trip, Carol White, who wrote “Live Your Road Trip Dream,” suggests camping in a national or state park instead of spending the night in a hotel.
