How did the travel industry get our members of Congress by the short and curlies? What will it take for systemic change to be made in how we are treated? We pay the salaries of both the travel industry as well as Congress; why do they ignore us?

You pay my salary? Guess what? I'M DUE FOR A RAISE. I bet your AIR FARE has stayed about the same as my salary. Bet ya!

And once again, I ask: why do we sit back and make funny, clever, and cute little jokes about how the travel industry takes advantage of us (not the phrase I had in mind, but you get my meaning)? Has it become so easy to celebrate our cynicism and laugh at those of us outraged by such shoddy treatment?

You can also opt to pack your own travel blanket and pillow. With the Lug Nap Sac, you can remove the blanket from zip storage pouch (which becomes your pillow case) and inflate the pillow. Younger kids also have a great selection with Zoobie Pets, which are stuffed animals, blankets and pillows all in one. Both options are machine washable too and can be used in airports, cars, at home, or wherever.

Take the shock expressed by some after US Airways said it would begin charging $7 for pillows and blankets. Technically, it’s repackaging its covers into something that look a little nicer than the “free” pillows and blankets that took up valuable space in the overhead bins.
=========================================================

Alittle nicer? Care to lay your head on a pillow that's been USED by dozens of other passengers? Curl up in a blanket that may have been on the floor or used by a passenger to wipe up a spilled drink?
Also, according to Wikipedia, they have 353 mainline and 319 commuter aircraft which operate over 3000 flights per day.
Do some math, say every mainline aircraft has 20 blankets on it. That's 7 THOUSAND blankets in the system everyday. Clean those several times a month and you have a cost that explains the current decision.
