In San Francisco, a high-speed scramble to save train station
San Francisco's high-speed rail system is getting a second look after officials urged project designers to update the plan for the unbuilt Transbay Terminal. The current plan would not be able to accommodate half the population estimated to use the system by 2030. Officials are scrambling to redo the plans to ensure the project can receive funding from the stimulus plan.

In Europe, people are flying instead of taking high speed trains because flying is cheaper and faster. Yes, lots are still on the train, but study what is happening over there first so the same issues aren't encountered. Of course, the Europeans seem to have a more pleasant system for boarding planes.
