Road signs book makes a good stocking stuffer

by Charlie Leocha on December 3, 2008

A small book, perfect for the Christmas stocking of any traveler, crossed my desk. Caution: Funny Signs Ahead is a collection of photos of some of the most amusing road signs found across the USA.

Mark Sedenquist (a former Tripso contributor) and Megan Edwards set off on the road trip of their lives back in 1994. Along the way they began taking photos of mixed-up marquees and billboard blunders. For the past few years they have been posting these photographs on their website, RoadTripAmerica.com. Now the photos are available in print just in time for the holidays in Caution: Funny Signs Ahead.

Anyone who has been on the road for some time, driving across the good old USA, knows that every so often a sign will strike their funny bone. It might be the exit to Boring, Oregon. Crossing a college campus a traveler might see a sign saying, “No Smoking On Campus Prohibited.” We might think twice about staying in the “Blue Ball Motel” or at the motel that hangs out a sign proclaiming, “We Beat Everybody!”

Mark and Megan’s collection of funny road signs will keep travelers smiling on Christmas morning, or any morning for that matter.

Caution: Funny Signs Ahead retails for $11.95 and is available at finer bookstores across the country and from Amazon.com.
