    Boarding announcements and deplaning announcements are fine with a sense of fun. However, I draw the line when it comes to the SAFETY DEMO. There’s nothing funny or comical about safety. There’s children onboard and they are impressionable.
    I just had approx. 30 high school students going on Spring Break to the Caribbean. All of them were talking loudly through the safety announcement. Additionally, most would turn off their Ipods after telling them electronic devices are NOT permitted now, only to turn them back on as I walked through the aisle. Several stood up as we taxied out. One went to the restroom. I was yelling from my jumpseat, “Sit down!”
    Could it be that many of these children grew up, witnessing unruly, rude, “I dont follow the rules” type behavior at the airports throughout the 90′s? I think so. There’s little respect for the rules. They watched their parents behavior at the airport when they were young. I would hate to see more young people develop an attitude, that safety is a joke.

    I wonder why the FA didn’t do something about those loud, unruly children?

    I take those “safety” announcements seriously and I would rather hear them in English rather than some one’s attempt to be “entertaining.” If I want entertainment, I will go to the movies of to a club, not on a flight.

    I absolutely loved this! This flight attendant and many others just like him are why I try to fly Southwest whenever I can. At least people were listening and not ignoring him and what he had to say (sing). Different strokes for different folks-this definitely does it for me.

    It works for me….I’ve seen David as well as other Southwest FAs who sing or rhyme the announcements, and I think more people pay attention.

    Safety is important. But listening is important, too. Having sat through more than a thousand safety briefings on every airline still flying and many that are not, I really think people pay more attention to the Southwest FAs than to the monotones on every other carrier.
