An Orthodox Jewish man was removed from a United Airlines flight for failing to follow instructions of flight attendants as he left his seat to pray during takeoff. Fellow passenger Ori Brafman told the Associated Press that the man couldn’t acknowledge the flight attendants until his prayers were over — about two minutes time. “He doesn’t respond to them, but his friends explain that once you start praying you can’t stop,” Brafman, who was seated three rows away, told the AP. The plane, Flight 9 to San Francisco, took off without the man. It landed at its destination as scheduled, the AP reports. Robin Urbanski, a spokeswoman for United Airlines, a subsidiary of UAL Corp. with headquarters in Chicago, told the AP that the man was taken off the plane and put on another flight Thursday morning.
