Pilot fired for buzzing airfield

A Cathay Pacific Airways pilot has been fired for making an unauthorized low pass by a Washington airfield in a Boeing 777-300ER passenger jet. The Hong Kong-based carrier — which would not identify the pilot — said it was still investigating the January 30 fly-by at Paine Field, 30 miles north of downtown Seattle and home to a Boeing plant, the Associated Press reports.
