Many public places participate in &quot;Code Adam&quot;, which locks down the facility and manadates that all children must be matched to their parent before leaving the store: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code_Adam

Also, many places have signs up to train your kids to look for: &quot;safe Haven&quot;, etc. Usually they are on fire stations, police stations and other public places that any child can go to if they need help.</description>
