Gaylord resort on the rebound

by Jon Surmacz on April 18, 2008

Making headlines for a norovirus breakout and sightings of mice in guestrooms isn’t exactly how you want to open a new resort hotel. But the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center is turning things around. “I was like, ‘Oh, my God’ – it was a PR nightmare,” the resort’s public relations director Amie Gorrell told USA Today. The Gaylord norovirus outbreak the first week of April was confined to guests in one conference and likely didn’t stem from resort food or cleanliness, Gorrell told USA Today. The resort brought in exterminators to take care of the mice and patched holes left by construction workers. Gorrell tells the paper that business and feedback have been good in the aftermath. Things had to get better, right?
