DAL/NWA new employee perk may backfire

by Charlie Leocha on April 30, 2008

The new “perk” for standby travel across the Northwest and Delta flights for both groups of employees, may backfire because planes are flying at such high capacity.

The “fly for free” attitude that once permeated the airline industry employees has been replaced by a reality that “free” and “standby” seats are few and far between. Adding even more possible travelers to the pool searching for standby travel will make it that much harder to get.

Plus, employees are already covered bu ID90 tickets that gave them 90% discounts on most airlines other than their own.

Seems like a pretty measly offer for employees if they really want more cooperation.
