As I write this, I am sitting in the Germany Alps after my second night in Europe. I remember scores of transatlantic trips where I would awaken at 2 or 3 a.m. and lie away until 4 or 5 a.m. or face spells of amazing tiredness in the middle of the afternoon as my body adjusted to jet-lag.
