Anyone who has traveled recently knows the bane of travelers, taxes; lots of taxes. Taxes on your air transportation. Taxes on hotels. Taxes on rental cars. It’s enough to make travelers want to throw tea overboard.

Avis may try harder to stop free rides for indecisive car renters

These days, unless you want to pay big bucks, there are very few flexible airfares. And hotels are routinely moving their cancellation deadlines to 24 or 48 hours in advance to avoid billing.
