As frequent travelers and readers of this column may have already learned, there’s one rule that always applies to connections – if at all possible, avoid changing airlines when you change planes; and, if you have to make such a connection, it’s safer to do it on one ticket.

This last weekend, British Airways flight attendants went on strike to protest … well, I’m not sure. But it was serious enough for them to sit out three days over the weekend and plan another four days at the end of this week. Last month Lufthansa pilots went on strike for a day. Greek and French air traffic controllers also joined the picket lines.
