Even if you’re not a terrorist or anything akin to one, you too can spend extra time getting through customs. Ask as many times as you want, you’ll never be told what you might have done. You’re guilty until proven innocent.

Many of you have heard the horror story about the AeroMexico flight from Mexico City to Seattle that was forced to divert to Portland, Ore. The passengers reportedly were kept prisoners on that plane for 16 hours because the airport “didn’t have enough customs agents at the airport to process the flight.”

For the last week or so, I’ve been bombarded with complaints about how many travelers believe that now they will be a target of the (say it with me now in a menacing voice) the evil Bush administration and have their electronic gadgets seized while they return from a trip abroad. Balderdash!
