October is national Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Now is a great time to take 5-10 minutes of your time and perform a self breast exam, and take a couple of hours and call your doctor and schedule a mamogram.

Gentlemen, a little known fact is that men can get breast cancer also, so take some of your time and check yourself, and while you're thinking about it, encourage your wives, mothers, sisters, etc. to take some time out of their lives to make sure that they are healthy.

Don't argue, just do it. I am very adament on this, since my mother was a victim of breast cancer. If caught early, this is one of the most treatable forms of cancer.

Thank you for reminding all of us. My mother is a 17 year survivor. This is a very important step in early detection.

Thanks John,

Five women in our family have gotten breast cancer in the last 20 years. One died of it, but the others survived more than 10 years, and eventually died of other causes.

Two of the survivors actually found the lump through self examination, and it saved their lives.

This is a great reminder. My sister is in the middle of the fight for her life vs. breast cancer. It is extremely important to remind our loved ones to take the time to check and to get exams.
