I think it's pretty darn amazing that Starbucks corporate didn't think there would be serious consequences to not honoring the coupon, in today's suit happy world.

I think she might be entitled to the cost of her coffee back but any more than that is crazy. She wasn't out more than that so why does she need $114 million.

Maybe Clarkef can shed more light on this as an attorney, but I'm surmising that it will only be a $114M suit if the attorney can get the court to agree to give it "class-action status." If not, I agree her damages should really only be the cost of a coffee.

If it does get "class action status" it will be interesting to see them prove the amount of damages which are supposedly an approximation of the average cost of one cup of Starbucks coffee a day for all of the people turned away for the 38 days the offer was valid. It will also be interesting to see how and who gets the damages after the attorney fees.

If anybody watches HBO's "Entourage" there was an episode where "Johnny Drama" [played by Kevin Dillon] goes to "Starbucks" and they wouldn't take his coupon because they cancelled it. It was hysterical because he went nuts. Maybe this is where they got the idea.
