Recent Movies that I liked:
Star Wars (Episodes II, III, IV, VI) -- This wasn't recent, except for Episode III, but it's worth mentioning. Agent Cody Banks (I & II) - Kids movie, but I still liked it. Thunderbirds (2004) - Kids movie, but I still love it. Hoodwinked - I didn't think the animation was bad at all. Zathura The Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe Pirates of the Carribean (I & II) Little Manhattan Everything is Illuminated -- Trivia about The Lion, the Witch, and The Wardrobe: Although the book was written first by C.S. Lewis, in Narnian chronology, it is the second. The first was The Magician's Nephew. Disney will release a four-disc extended edition of TLWW in December for a limited time. It will have an extended battle scene plus some more scenes. |

The Pirate movies just are some of the best entertainment !! It doesn't matter that they are over the top...just so much fun.
I also liked Ray and Walk the Line, Shrek movies, King Kong, the Batman movies (although I have my reservations about Heath Ledger playing the JOKER....Jack Nicholson is a hard act to follow) and the Superman man movies - I think the latest one was my favorite though. I like most movies....I just go to be entertained without looking for big meaning. Probably the worst movie I ever saw was Envy.

My all time favorite is an oldie from 1983(?) Arthur with Dudley Moore, Liza Minelli, and Sir John Gielgud

We don't get to the movies much, Stephen. Here's two recent favorites of mine:
Eight Below - yes, I cried; Capote - my estimation, a classic. Brilliant.

This is like one of those "get to know you" chain emails, isn't it?
I like really goofy movies that have nothing to do with reality and are loaded with sick humor so I'll keep my top choices to myself. (I'm an escapist with a warped sense of humor.) Suffice it say that my favorite flick since I was a youngster remains the original "Freaky Friday" with Jodie Foster and John Astin. For some reason that one cracks me up over and over. The only movies I actually buy are usually Disney types like The Lion King, Shrek, etc; I tend to only purchase live performance DVDs. But I would base my list of choices on the movies I have watched repeatedly: "To Have and Have Not" (Bogart and Bacall) "French Kiss" (Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline) "As Good as It Gets" (Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt) "The Big Chill" (huge cast) "Anger Management" (Nicholson and Sandler) "Meet Joe Black" (Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins) "The Hanging Garden" (a Canadian indie film) Actually I could list dozens in that category but I'll stop there. |

I like a science fiction, comedy and old movies, as well as some other with favorite actors. War pictures are often good too. Here's my top 50 DVDs in no particular order:
Forbidden Planet 12 Angry Men The African Queen The Bedford Incident Beetlejuice The Caine Mutiny Best in Show Captain Blood Coma Contact Dune Firefox Outland It Happened One Night A Few Good Men Ground Hog Day Hoosiers Ice Station Zebra Inherit the Wind Jumpin' Jack Flash Let it Ride Ben Hur The Lavender Hill Mob Kiss Me Kate The Music Man Jurassic Park My Cousin Vinny Pretty Woman Seven Days in May (Original) The Day the Earth Stood Still Soap Dish The Dish The Thin Man Tin Cup Twelve O'Clock High Top Hat Foreign Correspondent Woman of the Year Trading Places They Were Expendable Space Cowboys Destination Tokyo Lethal Weapon Series A Night at the Opera Rocky Horror Picture Show Beau Geste (Gary Cooper) Moon Over Parador The Abyss Bringing Up Baby Singing in the Rain These aren't necessarily what I think are the top 50 films of all time. These are just the ones I like to watch. I have others, but I'm watching these for now. |
