I wonder if they scrambled any from Andrews to participate in the drill. Earlier this morning, we were buzzed by some fighter jets. Our Blue Angels aren't due for another three weeks!

John, I'm told the F-16's in question were out of the Hancock Field Air National Guard Base, Syracuse, NY, from the 174th Fighter Wing. They fly both F-16C and F-16D models of the Fighting Falcons.

Amusing as it may sound, our office in NY was evacuated by building management. Several people had to leave work due to stress and/or anxiety attacks, and other buildings in the area were reporting same (if you look out our conference room at an angle you can see the WTC site.)

This seems incredibly irresponsible to me. From the morning's news reports, it sounds like no one in the NYC area was alerted in advance.

Herr Bloomberg could have shot them down by accident!

The news here said that NYPD was notified but told not to tell anybody. And that Mayor Bloomberg's office was also notified (again told not to tell anybody) but that info didn't actually make it up to the mayor.

Reports have now come in of anxiety attacks so bad they required hospitalization or medication.

Really, that person at the White House who approved this should really be packing his desk.

This fear that the public will know anything that the security planners have shown over the last few years causes as much trouble as the attacks they are trying to prevent.

In the real world, the person would be fired. In government, he\she will be asked to oversee the banks, run the national health insurance plan or etc.
