Default They're sticking it to me!

Today was the first day in a long string of great, sunny, beautiful weather days we're expected to get. The temps aren't expected to get above 76 (except for a high of 80 on one day), the wind is supposed to be just right, and either sunny, or partly sunny. No rain, no chilliness, just wonderful, utopian climate.

So what does my downstairs neighbor decide to do? GRILL MEAT on a CHARCOAL GRILL for dinner.

And I am sitting there eating Chicken Helper (what can I say, it's been a low-budget week).

He's on the ground floor, and has a concrete patio. Me, upstairs, I have a wooden balcony. Guess which one of us isn't allowed to grill outdoors?

All I've got is this little hibachi grill my sister gave me, which would work well, if I could figure out where to use it. According to my landlord's insurance company, I can't use it on my balcony (because of the wood) and if I'm using gas, it needs to be located at least 10' away from the building. Apparently, charcoal doesn't have that same stipulation (although I'm sure they'll change that come renewal time).

I'll end up having to grill in the parking lot. Can you imagine me, kneeling over a tiny grill, in a parking lot to cook a few weiners and kebabs? It's almost comical!

But, in the meantime, the smell KC Masterpiece and grilled chicken is wafting into my apartment, and I'm getting hungry again. Le sigh.

Did you smell my St.Louis Style Ribs all the way up there?They were wonderful. Get yourself a portable tabletop gas grill. I keep mine around even though I have a full size one as well. Great for burgers, weiners, and not too thick steaks.

Steve, how about an electric grill? Most landlords who don't permit other kinds of grills (gas, charcoal, wood) permit electric ones. Zojirushi and Meco make good ones according to reviews.

Get the George Foreman Grill. It's great. I use it to cook steaks and chicken. Easy to clean also. Just take a wet paper towel and just scrub it. Done.

...fishing pole.

Hook your steak or a piece of chicken on the end of a fishing pole line. They'll never notice the extra piece of meat if you drop it down to their grill while they are inside getting a beer. When it's done, just reel 'er in.

Bwahahahahahahaha!!! At Steve in the parking lot and at Deano's fishing rod! LOL!!!!!

Steve....I have done that more than once in my life! In fact once was just last year!! We wanted to have a 'picnic' lunch here at the office so we all brought in picnic food, tater salad, watermelon, baked beans.....all we needed was the grilled weenies! So I brought in the hibachi and we grilled kielbassi in the alley out our back door. The city guys just laughed.....and one said "At least she isn't laying in the street this time!" The last time they were called about me it was because there was a groundhog under a car and I was stopping traffic so he could safely make it across the street to the park! LOL!! Nearly as good as the time I was rescuing a live turkey from the parking garage......
