Granted my truck gets comparatively poor fuel mileage ... but even at the local "bargain" station it cost me US$130.01 today to fill the tank.
The April pleasure trip to north Georgia was subsequently cancelled..... ![]()

We filled up our truck yesterday and the price was $3.65 a gal. Ouch!
We have a driving trip scheduled for this summer and we will be getting a compact car instead of a midsize from the rental car company. |

My SUV has been costing me $65-$70 to fill up for a month now. I'm on the verge of raising my consulting fees to cover the increases in Health Insurance and Fuel.

Well there's the problem. Should have paid in zlotys. It all makes me glad I lead a boring, insular life and drive at best 20 miles per week unless I go to the supermarket - the closest real one is 25 minutes away and it costs me roughly $7.00 to drive there and back. Subsequently, one becomes a little hesitant to just bop into town for a gallon of milk and a sleeve of Ho-Hos. ![]() |

To really put things into perspective.....one of my friends stopped to fill up the tank on their Yukon last week, he happened to have his mother in law in the vehicle at the time. He filled it up, charged to his card and climbed back into the car. His MIL was giggling and shaking her head, he asked what was up with that and she said, "That's more than our first mortgage payment."

The gas station just down the block from my office was at $2.96 early last week, yesterday morning it was $3.25 and yesterday afternoon it was $3.27. This morning it was $3.35. I don't think I want to go past there this afternoon!

I remember when I first bought my brand new 1971 Datsun.
I couldn't take advantage of the free car wash offered at the local station because you had to buy at least $3 worth of gas... and to fill the tank never came to that much. After the fill up, I could drive for more than 300 miles before I needed gas again. |

I just talked to my mom. Her morgage payment in 1957 was $48. A weeks worth of grocherys cost her $2.00. Her weekly paycheck was $50.
I soo wish a weeks pay would cover my morgage payment. |
