An Air Canada flight that rolled suddenly from side to side then plunged in the air may have suffered technical problems, according to passengers interviewed after the plane was diverted to Calgary.

And THIS is one of the reasons why you should ALWAYS keep your seatbelt on when on a flight. Almost every single flight I'm on I see someone who unbuckles as soon as possible whether they're getting up or not. Very often they nap with the seatbelt undone. Even if this was severe turbulance as originally thought it's still something that can happen with very little notice.
