Air Safety Secrets Held by NASA

Found on the AP wires 2 days ago about NASA's efforts to withhold a report on air safety. They denied the AP's request under the Freedom of Information Act. What do you suppose they're trying to hide?

I would say, based on partial reports thus far, they're afraid to let it out that near collisions and runway interference occur far more frequently than previously thought by anyone in their wildest dreams, so frequently that the general public might reconsider using commercial aircraft as much as they do, and might shift, to the extent possible, to other forms of transportation, such as trains and cars for many trips.

Government agencies used to abide by the Freedom of Information Act and fulfill the requests. Nowadays, they're deny more and more requests because of "security" reasons. It makes it hard for news organizations to live up to the role as a watchdog.
