Renters and operators very rarely insure buildings. Think of apartment dwellers who only carry "renters insurance" which does not cover the building itself.

I think they insured their individual businesses. What I said was that I don't know whether the City insured the building/premises (as the Landlord) or whether the Non-Profit did.

Here is some new news though - there was a great deal of money allocated about 20 years ago (during the Barry - ahem - Administration - what a disaster) for major renovation/restoration - it never got done except for small parts of it. Apparently these funds - which one would hope have been earning interest - are being used for the work they are doing right now.
