Question Global Entry

Hi All,

I wonder who has experience with CBP Global Entry Program, and can tell me what happens at the Interview?

In my interview for the Global Entry Program the CBP official basically went over the information I submitted and maybe asked a few more minor questions.

Then there was a practice session with an entry machine. Somewhere in that process they do a fingerprint and face scan.

All told it took about 20 minutes.

It is also one of the best tavel investments I've made. When returning to the USA at locations with the Global Entry Kiosks I've never spent more than a few minutes going through the CBP/Immigration process. I've used it at JFK, EWR, BOS, ATL, and numerous times here in DTW.

I also learned I am on the "trusted traveler" program where available due to my frequent flyer status and membership in the Global Entry program. Speeds up that process by not having to remove shoes, computer from bag, etc.

The "interview" is basically a face to face meeting to ensure your documentation is you. The compare photos submitted with you. No significant questions are usually asked, all that has already been done with the background checks.

You also are shown how the process works and get to kibbitz with the agents.

I love the program and even got to bypass a huge TSA line in Miami last month! This via the TSA PreCheck program which all GE holders are automatically a part of.

Thanks for letting me know. Mrs. N. and I have our interviews next week. Last year the lines at EWR and PHL were so horrible coming into the country that we decided Global Entry was a must for the trips coming up.

Just so you know, Global Entry is one of the CBP "trusted traveler" programs. You're talking about TSA's Pre program which gets you through TSA security more quickly and you don't have to remove shoes, light weight jackets, belts, laptops from your bag, etc., and even your liquids baggie can stay in your bag.

It turns out that you don't have to have frequent flier status with any airline for TSA's Pre is you're a US citizens who is a members of the CBP's Global Entry, NEXUS, or SENTRI "Trusted Traveler" programs.

Just being in Global Entry automatically makes you TSA Pre eligible.

I'm doing a story about this soon.

Thanks K. Mrs. N. and I have our interviews next week.

By sometime this summer, PHL will have the TSA Pre Program, and US Air is now a participating airline, so we're looking forward to those fast TSA Pre security lines.

I did mine a few weeks ago, the biggest issue I had was getting into the office I needed to find at PHL and then back out

It's inside the arrivals hall in A West 3rd floor, tell the guard what you are there for. Then you kind of have to sneak in the out lines depending on how busy it is.

The interview was nothing. QUick confirmation, picture, fingerprint scan and demo of how to use the machine. Your card will arrive in about 2 weeks.

I never did get a Global Entry card. There was a "CBP" sticker put in my passport.

When I renewed my passport recently and while at the airport, I stopped in to the CBP office and they updated the system with any new information. It was painless and only took about 5 minutes.
