Twice now I've had annual passes for Disneyland, despite the fact that I live in the middle of Canada. Both times it was because I was planning another trip in just under a year, so the annual pass made sense especially when taking the free parking, 10% merchandise discount and 10-15% dining discount into account. The only way I can see having a pass for both parks being worthwhile for me is if I win the lottery. Then yeah I'd get it, and I'd probably go to each park twice a year.

I've also known people who will get 1 annual pass, and then get regular passes for the rest of the family. Depending on how long you're staying and what offers are on at the time it can be worth it, again especially with the discounts. And there are special annual passholder events from time to time that pretty cool.

I work with a woman who visits both parks at least twice a year. She loves them and always takes a different friend. That's the only place she goes on vacation so she might benefit from it.

Apparently there are approximately 700 people who already hold annual passes to both parks. Disney is automatically mailing them the new pass.
