At 7 a.m. on a Saturday, my friend Julia Sun and I stumble downstairs to the kitchen of Inn on the Common in Craftsbury Common, Vermont. We sit on stools and pepper owner Jim Lamberti with questions about his job.

One of my favorite books of all time:

"Don't Stop the Carnival", by Herman Wouk.

A must read about running an inn in the Caribbean.

Yes, I have the CD! It actually was performed one summer/fall season at the Atlantis in the Bahamas. I wish I had gone over to see it.

It was also performed in Ft. Lauderdale or Palm Beach for a season. I don't remember the name of the theater. I understand that there is a theater in the San Diego area that is interested in putting it on and if they do, I will make a point of heading down there to see if the play does the book justice.

Mrs. Kairho and I will admit to once having thought that operating a B&B would be exotic, interesting, and romantic. Then I read (quite enjoyed, actually) Wouk's book ...
